About The Book
This true story is about how a girl balances the different backgrounds of both the urban and rural sides of her family. She learns many lessons while growing up in this family rhapsody.
My name is Iduine. My parents, brother, and I lived in a middle-class, suburban neighborhood in New Jersey in the 1970s. We lived in a Sugar Maple Split house. That was just the name of the architectural design of the house. I never felt as if we lived in a housing track. The houses had different colors with some different features. It was a pretty neighborhood with green lawns. Oak trees, flowering Dogwood trees, Maple trees, Willow trees, and Pitch Pine trees decorated our neighborhood. The original part of town had older homes that were kept up nicely. There was an intriguing history of that part of town. The library was the old, brick schoolhouse. Restaurants and shops were in older buildings that gave the town character.
